I would say no, fast food cannot be elegant… in almost every case. At least one exception, though, is Chick-fil-A. The fact that they take the time and make the effort to train their employees to actually treat people with dignity makes the experience of eating there much more pleasant than most other fast food places. Where else do the employees answer, “My pleasure,” when responding to a simple thank you?
Add to that fresh flowers in a vase on every table, free wi-fi, and good quality food, and you have a great place to grab a quick meal. That, to me, qualifies Chick-fil-A to be described as “everyday elegance” in the fast food market.
